THE FORGOTTEN SUPER MOBILE : PART-2

As we discussed in the previous blog, Nokia 808 PureView is actually a very advances camera phone in 2012 and it's the best camera phone at that time. So why didn't people liked it? What was the reason? How come it ended up not showing any progress? In this blog, we'll discuss it.

DISPLAY

Sadly, we have such a high resolution camera on a mobile phone, but the display is not of good resolution. It's display resolution is 640x360. It's a 360p resolution AMOLED display mobile phone. Even though it had a AMOLED display, it lacks resolution that means, the icons/data on screen is not sharp, which is a backfire to it.  Actually, mobile phones at that time had more resolution display than 808PureView. For example, we have HTC One X that has 720p resolution display at that time.

And Nokia 808 PureView didn't had a laminated screen. That means it has a gap between glass surface and display panel. Well, it quiet have a few drawbacks because of that.

SYMBIAN WAS THE MAJOR FAULT

It'll keep loading like this whenever you try to open gallery

We would be enjoying Nokia phones till today if they had just upgraded their software or changed their OS. Well, that's the biggest mistake Nokia had done. They used symbian on 808 PureView, and the results are :

  • Lack of easily accessible media controls.
  • Can't even open browser properly.
  • Websites/webpages are not responsive. After a few attempts of trying, it'll change to desktop version of the website.
  • Web font's are not loaded properly.
  • The worst part is,  all of this happens very slowly i.e, very slowly loading, (i.e, loading webpages/fonts and refreshing) which is very irritating.
  • The ultimate pain is, when we are doing these tasks, the phone crashes completely.

When you are using this symbian, most of the time, all you're going to do is wait. Suppose open gallery and it'll load forever , open Nokia store and it'll load, never open web browsers, they'll load and eventually phone crashes.

UN-COMPATIBILITY WITH HEADSETS

Other issue is, the third-party headphones/headsets are not compatible with 808 PureView. Only the company's  headphones will fit into it perfectly. If you try to fit other brands headsets, it shows "It is not compatible with the device".

EPILOUGE:

Well, it's all over now. Symbian is no more. And Nokia, once a giant, is no more a giant. It shows that times are changing and to withstand that changes, we need to adapt and want to change our ways but want to keep our principles in tact. Well, after 808 PureView, Nokia introduced Windows OS, but that didn't gained much attention. And after that, Nokia adapted to Android. Currently Nokia want to focus on their mobiles, if they want to retrieve their earlier position.
